SHS-  3 Alarm Structure Fire (Shelton,CT) : On 12-30-08 the Shelton Fire Dept. was dispatched for a working structure fire at Shelton High School. Units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire on the second floor. They quickly dropped two more alarms. Requesting mutaul aid from Ansonia, Derby, and Trumbull. The fire was originally located in a storage closet with chemicals in it. There is reports of fire and smoke damage throughout the school. Fortunatly students were on vacation.

Structure Fire (Ansonia,CT) : On 12-23-08 the Ansonia Fire dept. was dispatched to a working structure fire on North Spring St. Crews arrived to find fire on the second floor and in the attic. Truck 7 vented as a lines were stretched form Engine 3. Crews made a very fast knock down. No one was injured. Had to work, so I dropped by to check it out. Good job Ansonia. Structure Fire (Beacon Falls,CT) : On 12-16-08 the Beacon Falls Fire dept. was dispatched for a working structure fire. When crews arrived they found heavy fire on the "A & B" side. It quickly turned to a exterior attack with the house fully involved. Command called for mutual aid companies. Bethany, Oxford, and Seymour sent tankers to help with water supply. After knocking the main body of fire down, crews started heavy overhual. Chasing hot spots in the attic and in the walls. The house was under construction and no one was hurt. (I know, pictures with no  fire. Work wouldnt let me out in time.)

Car Into Pole (Seymour,CT) : On 12-14-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched to 142 Skokorat St. for a car into a pole. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle into a pole with heavy front end damage and starring to the windshield. The patient had self extricated themselves. The battery was disconnected and fluids were contained. R-12 cleared and Engine 11 stayed on scene until CL&P arrived.

1 Car Mva (Seymour,CT) : On 12-11-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched for a 1 car mva with entrapment and difficulty breathing. The police and 703 arrived to find 1 car into a poll and giude wires. 703 and ems personel extricated the patient as the FD arrived on scene. SEMS transported the patient to a local hospital. FD stayed on scenr until the wrecker came.

Stucture Fire (Milford,CT) : On 12-11-08, Milford Fire was dispatched for a wokring fire at 106 West Main St. From what I understand is that the fire was on the second floor and made its way into the attic. Truck 1 vented the roof in a couple areas to keep the fire from traveling down the ridge line. I was out christmas shopping when I ran into this call. Just some pics of the crews doing overhaul. A West Haven truck was called in for extra assistnace.

2 Car Mva (Ansonia,CT) : As I was passing through town, I came across this minor two car mva. A car rearended a pickup truck. The car knocked the spare tire out of the bottom of the truck. Chief 23 took command and squad 9 provided ligthing for the seen. The occupants of the vehicles were checked out by ARMS. The fluid were covered as the wrecker showed up.11-7-08

Structure Fire (Ansonia,CT) : On 11-29-08 the Ansonia Fire Dept. was dispatched for a working structure fire on Cascio Dr. Fm1 gave the first report of the confirmed 2 story garage fire. Units arrived to find fire venting out the "A" side windows. Chief 23 took command as an initial line was stretched from Engine 3 to the second floor. Within in the first few minutes of the attack everyone was ordered to evacuate the building. One firefighter sustained minor burns when a piece of the ceiling collapsed. With fire now venting through the sky lights, crews went on a defensive exterior attack. Crews set up a ladder to the "A" side windows and started flowing water. After a good knock down, crews headed back in to extinguish the fire. The fire was put under control within twenty minutes. A state fire marshall was called in to aid in the investigation.

Truck Into House (Seymour,CT) : On my way home from the structure fire in Ansonia, I ran into this call in Seymour. Apon arrival crews found a full size pickup into the front of a house. Before striking the house, the pickup had side swiped a parked pickup on the same side of the road about seventy five to one hundred feet up the road.
There was no structural damage to the house but to most of the deck. Crews stayed on scene until a wrecker removed the pickup. The patient was taken to a local hospital.11-29-08

1 Car Mva Rt-8 (Seymour,CT) : On 11-28-08 the Ansonia Fire Dept. was dispatched for a mva on Rt-8 South near exit 19. 601 was the first responding unit on scene and gave the update to station 1, that the crash was in Seymour. While station 1 had relayed for Seymour Fire to be dispatched, other Ansonia units arrived. The patient self extricated themselves and was checked out by ARMS. Ansonia units cleared while Seymour units stayed on scene until the vehicle was removed.

Rollover Down Embankment (Seymour,CT) : Also to add to the busy night in Seymour, there was a single car rollover down an embankment on Moss Ave. The vehicle went twenty to thirty feet down hill while splitting a 10" tree in half. The patient self extricated themselves and was brought to a local hospital by SEMS. Crews stayed on scene until a wreker removed the vehicle.11-29-08

2 Car Mva (Ansonia,CT) : On 11-25-08 the Ansonia Fire Dept. was dispatched to a two car mva with injuries. Engine 6 and cheif 25 arrived on scene at the same time to give the update. Two cars with minor front end damage, and no fluids down.

Rollover (Seymour,CT) : On 11-25-08 there was a single car rollover at Great Hill Rd and Fountain Lake Rd. Crews arrived and found one vehicle on its front end into a ditch. The patient self extricated himself. Screws stood by until the wrecker removed the vehicle.

Mock Crash (Ansonia,CT) : A cold saturday night on 11-22-08, there was a mock crash held for the Ansonia Fire Dept. The drill was held for the members who attended the extrication class. With two vehicles involved, the driver was stuck under the dash in the vehicle that was rolled on its roof. Crews stabalized the small suv and removed the door to the passenger side of the vehicle. They then cut the steering wheel and slid the patient out onto a backboard.

Dumpster Fire (Seymour,CT) : Sunday afternoon on 11-9-08, the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched to 43 Balance Rock Road for a dumpster fire. When units arrived they found light smoke coming from the dumpster. A trash line from Engine 15 was stretched and crews knocked down the small body of fire.

1 Car Mva (Seymour,CT) : On 10-28-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched for a one car mva on Bungay Rd. Engines 11 and 16 responded with Rescue 17. Ems personal packaged the patient and transported to the nearest hospital. The vehicle seemed to rearend damage only. Crews stayed on scene until the vehicle was removed.

Structure fire (Seymour,CT) : On Sunday 10-12-08 the Seymour Ftre Dept. was dispatched to a working structure fire. As crews were responding updates came in from firefighters on scene. A area of the garage was burning and it extended into the wall. Crews arrived and a line from Engine 16 was stretched to the garage. Tanker 19 quickly followed and connected to Engine16. Crews extinguished the fire and started overhual. The fire was quickly knocked down.

Truck Blessing (Ansonia, CT) : At Warsaw Park on 8-17-08, there was a blessing of the trucks and a prayer said for all firefigthers. The towns of Ansonia and Derby participated during the afternoon events.

Truck 46 Wetdown (Oxford,CT) : Sunday 9-7-08, the Oxford Fire Dept. held there wet down for there new ladder, Truck46. The day turned out perfect for a good turnout to see the new Pierce. With the 105' rear mount ladder, the truck is around 46' long. Loaded with saws to hand tools and even a combi tool.

Activated Alarm (Ansonia,CT) : On 7-6-08 the Ansonia Fire Dept. responded to Main Street for an activated alarm. Entry was made by removing the rim lock. Nothing found and building was resecured.

2-Car Mva Rt-67 (Seymour,CT) : On 3-11-08 during rush hour the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched to a 2 car mva. One patient was transported to a local hospital and others refused transport. There was minor damage to both cars.

2-car Mva/car fire (Seymour,CT) : At 11:47pm on 2-16-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched to a two car mva with a car on fire, possible entrapment. Units arrived on scene with all patients out of the vehicles. They then stretched a 1-3/4 cross lay to extinguish the car fire.

C2's New Tools : C2 has some new deliveries for 2008. The company recently purchased a set of Res-q-jacks, a Hurst portable unit, and a K-12 Partner saw. They also had there old hurst cutters sent out and changed to a combi tool.

Public Relations Weekend (Seymour,CT) : On 11-22-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. and Seymour EMS were very busy in the public eye. While SEMS were having there boot drive on Rt.67, the Seymour Fire Dept. were helping out Peak fitness with there 3rd annual food drive.

Breakfast (Fall) 2008 : The Citizens Engine Co.#2 held its annnual pancake breakfast on 11-2-08. Here are some photos of its members working the morning event. It was a slow start but by 10:30 the place was packed. Many of the new probies also showed up to help out. More pics coming soon.

Fire prevention 2008 : On 10-10-08, the Seymour Fire Dept. held one of its fire prevention demonstrations for the students of Lopresti School in Seymour. Students were taught about the dangers of fire and how to stay safe. The students also took a tour of the fire trucks.

Family Outing 2008 : This years family outing was filled with food and fun. Great food thanks to Jimmy and Jorge. A huge slip and slide for the kids and volleyball for the adults. Our Capt. set the music for the evening.

Firefighters Memorial Day 2008 : On 10-19-08, the Citizens Engine Co.#2 held its annual firefighters memorial day. A prayer was said in honor of our deceased members. A company picture was then taken and individual pictures were taken for the 125th anniversary booklet.

2 Car Mva/Rollover (Seymour,CT) : On 2-15-08 the Seymour Fire Dept. was dispatched for an mva. Upon their arrival they found one vehicle on its driverside and another vehicle down the road. Fluids were covered and FD crews stayed on scene until vehicles were removed. One patient from the car was transported to the nearest hospital. Took these photos with my blackberry so there is alot of noise in the pics.
